Bed and Breakfast vs. Private Home
When you travel to San Francisco you have lots of options for where to stay. Many people choose to stay away from hotels, maybe this is because they want to stay somewhere more romantic, or a place with more character, or maybe you to stay in a less commercial area in a cozy neighborhood where you can get a better feel of San Francisco. This leaves two options, a Bed and Breakfast or a rental home. There are advantages and disadvantages to both.
Bed and Breakfast
Bed and Breakfasts can be cute, quaint and cozy. They are often time in a more neighborhood setting and can feel more like home that a run of the mill hotel room. There might be common areas to relax in with other patrons, or a lovely couple running the business who can help you with the details of your trip, or maybe not. Bed and Breakfast’s are not ideal for families do to the small room size and close quarters. Children as we know are often noisy and while Bed and Breakfast’s can be charming they are not known for the sound proofing between rooms, as most are in old homes. Plus if this is a romantic get away it might be hard to relax when you can hear all the happenings in other rooms and vice versa. You may have to share a bathroom with several other strangers and it is twenty feet down the hall, which is always awkward. Now because of the thin walls your children in the next room have made all the other guests look at you like the enemy, not all of your luggage fits inside your rooms, and you are wearing flip flops in the shower because your husband got a glimpse of Mr. Toe Fungus walking back to his room after a bath. I think there is a better option.
Private Home
The vacation rental home is well first of all a home so you have the run of the entire place. Sure there may not be anyone there to greet you but you will really be able to relax and enjoy with all this privacy. If you are traveling with children they will have to work pretty hard to make enemies of the neighbors. You won’t need to bring the shower shoes since you will not have to share your bathroom with anyone whose foot condition scares you. If you are here for romance you can walk around the house as you please, talk as loudly as you like, and all of your luggage will fit inside. We have three San Francisco homes to choose for depending on your needs. Our Ocean Beach house is perfect for families. The beach, Golden Gate Park and a playground are blocks away and there is a great backyard for the kids to romp around in too. Our Inner Sunset home is great for families or couples. It too is very close to Golden Gate Park, but has the advantage or lots of fabulous restaurants and shops very close by as well. It also is a home with lots of Victorian charm including a cozy fireplace in the living room. Our Potrero Hill home is great for anyone, but I think it is particularly great for couples or a group a friends. You will want to hang out on the deck here with the amazing San Francisco Skyline view and there is lots of great space inside for entertaining.
The choice seems clear to be Bed and Breakfasts seem like a good idea, but do yourself a favor and rent a beautiful San Francisco home instead.
